Digital Lenses: Between Orwell and Reality

 Interactive Exhibition and Discussions as Part of the G-LENS Project within the 30th Sofia Film Festival

How can we protect the truth and our emotional well-being in a world where digital absurdities have become part of everyday life? 

We invite you to the Aula of the National Theatre and Film Academy to explore these questions through art, cinema, and the authentic voices of the younger generation.

Over the past eight months, young people have worked under the mentorship of experienced professionals—including journalists from the Association of European Journalists (AEJ), filmmakers, and video producers. The result is an interactive exhibition that explores and examines our lives “online.”

What awaits you here:

  • Videos, investigative articles, and social campaigns accessible via TV screens and tablets with headphones.
  • Posters and digital content that reveal the mechanisms of online violence and disinformation.

The exhibition not only highlights the risks but also provides tools to help us feel safer, more secure, and protected in the digital environment.

The G-LENS exhibition is interwoven with a selection of films from the 30th edition of the Sofia Film Fest, exploring themes of propaganda, truth, and moral choices:

  • “Orwell: 2+2=5” – The timeless story of absurdity and the distortion of reality.
  • “KHARTOUM” – The clash of worlds and ideologies.
  • “Truth or Dare” – Where the game ends and the consequences begin.

After the screenings, we will bring the conversation from the screen to the audience. We invite everyone to join a discussion on one of the most pressing issues of our time:

When disinformation becomes a tool for online violence against women, is there anywhere to turn for support?

Our goal is to create a safe space for dialogue on how art and real life intersect in the digital age. We will discuss the invisible scars of life online and explore how society and institutions can respond to digital aggression.

About the G-LENS Project

G-LENS is an initiative designed to empower young people by equipping them with tools for media literacy and critical thinking, transforming them into active defenders of truth and human dignity in the digital space. It is implemented in partnership with the British Council Poland, IPA (Poland), MIGS (Cyprus), ANAIS (Romania), the British Council in Bulgaria, and the Association of European Journalists in Bulgaria (AEJ), with financial support from the EU’s CERV – Citizens, Equality, Rights, and Values program.
