After 4 years of partnership with our colleagues from NGOs in Europe, Africa and Asia, we have set for ourselves a goal to accomplish through our new project, and that is to develop the necessary leadership and operational skills of our teams.

The educational materials and programmes developed specifically to cover the necessary competencies of non-governmental and self-governing organisations, which are devoted to solving the problems in their community, were modelled, tested and delivered along the framework of the project. The latter is bridging the gap between face-to-face education and the creation of an instrument for online education, which could benefit people who do not have access to providers of education or cannot afford it. We also developed and delivered a mobile app called F.I.R.E. (From Idea to Reality & Execution) which can be accessed free of charge by Android and iOs cell phones.

We created a webpage which will present different educational programmes and resources for free use. Today we are presenting you the first such resource: the F.I.R.E. app.

The content is presented through the use of short texts, videos and real-life examples. When you download the app on your phone, you will have the advantage of being able to learn anywhere and at any time of the day. You only need 10-20 minutes of free time to read about and work on one of the themes.

At the end of this self-education process we are offering you a questionnaire, so that you can assess your progress. For each module which you pass you can order and receive a certificate.

The app is free, and you can download it on:

You can follow through the process of how we transitioned from live educational modules to online (off-campus) education on our project’s webpage: http://www.studyathome.eu

The process was interesting, sometimes hard or funny, and often enough quite infuriating (because of the COVID-19 virus pandemic and the measures taken to contain its spread).

We started with the 3-training course. All of them were conducted in a real educational environment.

Then we followed this with a series of actions at home, a.k.a. implementing what was learned throughout each training. Along with this our educators transformed the materials into a version which was conducive to self-education at home. We used feedback from the participants in the trainings, and we added many examples from real life. And the result of all that work is the app for mobile phones F.I.R.E.

We are thankful to the help we got from our volunteers who translated these materials in Hindi and Kiswuahili in order for people from India and large African communities to be able to us these materials in an understandable language.

A few words about volunteering itself: young adults from Bulgaria, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa and India took part in volunteering projects from May 2019 to July 2020. These months were fun and replete with many challenges and work with local communities. Check more about the project here.

The project is realized with the financial support of the European Program “Erasmus+”, Key Action 2: Capacity Building in the Field of Youth
