“Think Critically, Act Logically!”

As part of the initiative “Youth Together Against Disinformation”, a team of students from the city of Dobrich implemented the project “Think Critically, Act Logically!“.
The initiative focuses on developing skills for recognizing risks in the online space and combating financial fraud.
About the team’s achievements:
Goal and target group
The main mission of the project was to popularize the topic of online financial fraud and build critical thinking skills among young people and their teachers. The project was aimed at:
• Students: Mainly from the 10th and 11th grades at the “Raiko Tsonchev” Secondary Educational and Vocational School, Dobrich.
• Teachers: Older teachers who are also active in the online environment.
• Younger students: Exchange of experience with graduates of the “Maria Montessori” Secondary Educational and Vocational School through a visit to the student council.
Implemented activities
The team, consisting of Svetoslav Trifonov, Petar Vassilev, Stefani Georgieva and Hristiyan Shtarkov, implemented a wide range of initiatives:
• Information materials: Preparation of posters placed in the school environment.
• Interactive events: Conducting a workshop with students and a competition on the topic “Become a Cyber Detective”, in which 14 children presented stories and videos about real frauds.

• Digital content: Filming a series of videos that aroused high interest. You can view them here:
Impact and power of the project
The project achieved significant reach, reaching over 90% of the students in the school. The videos were used by class teachers in class as an educational resource. The greatest strength of the project was the personal element – during the discussions in the workshop, the students shared many personal stories, which helped to deepen their understanding of the problem.
Recommendations and future steps
Based on their experience, the team suggests:
• More frequent information campaigns: The topic should be promoted more actively among younger students (from 5th to 8th grade) in order to build resilience against disinformation at an early age.
• Encouraging participation: The team considers motivating students to create their own content as a challenge, therefore it recommends looking for even more compelling formats for competitions.
