You’re invited to a youth camp dedicated to combating online violence against girls and women!
Hello, young creatives!
Do you have a passion for theater or video productions? Do you want to use your talent to help solve an important social problem? Then this is your opportunity!
OPEN SPACE Foundation is pleased to invite 15 young people aged 13 to 28 with an interest in theater and video productions to join an exciting and meaningful camp. Together, we will use the power of art to create content that exposes the problem of online violence against girls and women.
Online communication and social networks are a preferred means of communication for millions of people worldwide. But besides connecting people, the online space often becomes an arena for online harassment. Although it targets both genders, studies show that women are more often subjected to online violence. According to EU data, about 73% of women have been subjected to online attacks. From hate speech and insults on social media and online bullying at school, to the emergence of the so-called “incel” culture and cases of publishing photos/personal information for revenge, the manifestations of online violence can be numerous. But even if it’s not related to harassment, digital communication changes us.
What awaits you?
During the camp, you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop your artistic skills in theater and video production.
- Work in a team with other young people who share your interests.
- Create impactful theatrical etudes and short videos that raise awareness about online violence and inspire change.
- Contribute to an important social cause, giving a voice to those affected.
When and where?
The camp will take place on August 30 and 31, 2025, at Mladost Hut, near the town of Targovishte. Arrival: August 29, Departure: September 1.
What do we cover?
To ensure your comfortable participation, we cover accommodation for 3 nights, as well as food throughout the camp period.
G-LENS Project and Future Opportunities
The online space is increasingly becoming an arena for the spread of hate speech and disinformation. Women are particularly vulnerable to these types of attacks, which prevent them from actively participating in public debates and expressing their opinions. The G-LENS project aims to change this situation. This camp is part of the G-LENS project initiative (https://openspacebg.com/g-lens-bg/) and aims to empower young people to become active participants in the fight against online violence against girls and women, continuing our work on media literacy, which we have been involved in since 2019.
The best theatrical and video productions created during the camp will be included in an exhibition in Sofia in March 2026, providing you with another opportunity to showcase your talent and spread the message.
How to get involved?
