G-LENS Project Launch: Together Against Online Harassment and Disinformation
We are pleased to announce the official launch of the G-LENS project! This is an ambitious initiative that will be implemented over the next two years in partnership with organizations from Poland, Romania and Cyprus.
What is G-LENS?
G-LENS aims to combat online harassment and disinformation, especially targeting women. Our goal is to empower young people to recognize manipulative practices in the digital space and become active participants in the fight against them, and is a continuation of our work to increase media literacy, which we have been working on since 2019.
Why is this project important?
Online space is increasingly becoming an arena for the spread of hate speech and disinformation. Women are particularly vulnerable to this type of attacks, which deter them from actively participating in public debates and expressing their opinions. The G-LENS project aims to change this situation.
What activities will be carried out within the project?
- We will conduct in-depth research to understand how misinformation targeting women spreads and how it affects their participation in society.
- We will organize trainings for young people, journalists, educators and other stakeholders to help them develop critical thinking and recognize manipulative practices.
- We will create interactive exhibitions to present the results of our research and provoke discussions on the topic.
- We will collaborate with experts from different countries to share experiences and develop effective strategies to combat online harassment.
How can you get involved?
Anyone interested in the topic of online safety and gender equality can participate in our activities. There will be opportunities to volunteer, participate in surveys, focus groups and discussions, as well as to disseminate information about the project.
Why is the project funded by the EU SERV programme?
The European Union recognizes the importance of combating online harassment and disinformation. The SERV programme supports projects that promote civic participation and democratic values.
Together we can create a safer and more equal online space!
